Carbon monoxide poisoning in Dubai: Woman, dog die in Al Barsha villa

A woman and her dog were found dead from carbon monoxide poisoning in a villa in Dubai’s Al Barsha area, according to Dubai Police. Police said the deceased shared the villa with other tenants, one of whom had used a power generator after electricity was cut off in the villa for violation of Dubai’s housing rules. The tenant who used the generator has been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution. Police did not release further details about the identity of the tenant and the deceased. According to police investigators, toxic fumes from the generator filled the woman’s room overnight, leading to her death from carbon monoxide poisoning. Colonel Maki Salman, director of Crime Scene Department at Dubai Police, said another woman living in the villa survived but suffered some health issues. Col. Salman said they initially suspected food poisoning, but investigations revealed that the woman and her dog died from carbon monoxide poisoning. “The main tenant used the generator and the carbon monoxide reached the room. The victim and the dog died from inhaling the gas,” Col. Salman said. The official said that carbon monoxide is undetectable by smell, which makes it deadly for unsuspecting people inhaling it for a long period. ICA/Expat Media
