Dubai: Opening of Al Ain road project set to benefit 1.5 million motorists

The Dh2 billion Dubai-Al Ain Road Improvement Project, which opened on Sunday, is expected to cut travel time by 50 percent. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) estimated that the travel time on the Dubai-Al Ain Road from the intersection of Ras Al Khor Road to the Emirates Road can reduced from 16 minutes to eight during rush hours. It will benefit about 1.5 million people who live or work in the area. It also serves more than 27,500 students at 25 nearby institutions and colleges. Furthermore, the road was widened from three to six lanes in each direction, with a total length of 11.5 kilometers, which will increase the road's capacity in both directions from 12,000 to 24,000 cars per hour. The opening of the new road is expected to resolve traffic jams that used to cause inconvenience to motorists. BKM/ Expat Media
