Emirati woman, 4 children rescued from drowning in Ras Al Khaimah

A stroll by the creek almost turned into a nightmare for an Emirati woman and four children after they almost drowned in the rising waters. Shaima Al Shehhi said the rapidly rising tide dragged her into the creek along with her two children, aged 7 and 8, as well as her 8-year-old nephew and 10-year-old niece. Thankfully, the distressed family was rescued by an Emirati fisherman, his brother and an Asian man during the incident in the Khor Al Rams area on Friday. The fisherman, Abdullah Qasin, said he was with his family on a cruise near the creek when he heard screams for help from the children and their mother. They sprang into action and were able to save the family just in time. The woman was reportedly out of breath and “in shock” following the ordeal. The family were taken to a hospital for treatment. They were discharged from hospital earlier this week after their condition stabilized. ICA/Expat Media
