Attempted murder in Satwa: Expat jailed in Dubai

  A 34-year-old Asian man has been jailed in Dubai for attempting to murder his cousin in the Satwa area, according to reports on Monday (June 6). The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced him to six months in prison. The Asian man was identified through his initials A.A. There were no further details released about his nationality. According to records, A.A. shared an apartment with his cousin in Satwa when they had an argument over a meal. A.A. ended up stabbing his cousin in the stomach. The victim was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to hospital for a surgery. He survived. In his testimony, A.A.’s cousin said they had an argument over a meal that escalated to their food consumption. He said that his cousin also said offensive words against him. He said that when their argument escalated, he left the room, but that his cousin followed him and stabbed him with a knife, while also knocking him to the ground. During interrogation, A.A. confessed to the crime, but claimed that he did not intend to kill his cousin. He will be deported after serving his sentence. ICA/Expat Media
