3 Emirati students injured in deadly Fujairah vehicle crash in stable condition

  Three Emirati students injured in a vehicle crash in Fujairah that killed two other students are now in stable condition, doctors told media on Saturday (June 4). The students were on their way to their school in Sharjah on Wednesday (June 1) when their minibus crashed with an SUV in Fujairah’s Al Seiji area, according to Fujairah Police. The injured were taken to Al Dhaid Hospital. Emirates National School identified the injured as Khalifa Ali Salem Al Zahmi, Alia Nasser Ali Al Hafri Al Ketbi and Moza Nasser Ali Al Hafri Al Ketbi. Khalifa is a Grade 5 student; Alia is a Grade 1 student, and Moza attends kindergarten in the same school. Surgical consultant Dr. Marwan Younis of Al Dhaid Hospital said one of the injured students was in critical condition, but his condition has stabilized. Younis said the three injured children look set to recover fully within three days and are expected to be discharged from hospital. Two other students were declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Emirates National School identified the victims as Ali Nasser Ali Al Hafri Al Ketbi, a Grade 6 student, and Muhammad Saif Ali Al Hafri Al Ketbi, a Grade 4 student. Ali was 7 while Muhammad was 5. The minibus driver, attendant and female driver of the SUV are recovering after also being taken to Al Dhaid hospital for treatment. Doctors said the SUV driver sustained head injuries, while the injured students, minibus driver and bus attendant suffered moderate to minor injuries. A police investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing. ICA/Expat Media
