UAE to strictly enforce face mask wearing as Covid-19 cases increase by 100%

Wearing of face masks in all indoor areas will be strictly enforced as UAE officials noted a 100 percent increase in Covid-19 cases in a week. Dr. Taher Al Ameri, spokesman for the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority, said those caught not wearing face masks will be fined Dh3,000. Al Ameri attributed the recent surge in Covid-19 cases to people not wearing face masks in enclosed areas. On Monday (June 13), the UAE recorded 1,319 new Covid-19 cases, the fifth day that daily cases remained above 1,000. At malls in Dubai, Expatmedia.net noted that security personnel were enforcing the face mask rule, and denying entry to those not wearing face masks. Meanwhile, the Al Hosn Green Pass validity will also be reduced from 30 days to two weeks starting on Wednesday (June 15). In schools, this will take effect beginning June 20. ICA/Expat Media
