UAE Ramadan moon-sighting committee to meet on April 1

  DUBAI – The UAE moon-sighting committee will meet on Friday (April 1) to officially announce the start of Ramadan. The meeting will be held after the Maghreb prayer at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department under the chairmanship of Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, Minister of Justice. A number of senior officials will also attend the committee meeting. Shariah courts in the UAE and the Lunar Calendar Committee at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department will inform the committee of a moon-sighting. Ramadan is expected to begin on April 2, but the UAE moon-sighting committee has yet to make an official announcement.
