Dubai CDA calls for meeting with Filipino groups on events, activities
DUBAI – The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has called for a meeting with Filipino groups in the emirate to discuss developments on community-hosted events.
The meeting will be held on June 5, at 1pm at the CDA office in Al Barsha 2 in Dubai. The CDA-accredited Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) called on all active and inactive Filipino groups to attend.
Interested groups must send details of their group name, name of representative, mobile number and email address to the WhatsApp numbers ?????????? or ??????????.
“We know you want to bring back your group so you can gather once again and create events and activities. Because of this, the Community Development Authority of Dubai has prepared great plans,” according to FilSoc in a statement inviting groups to sign up for the meeting with CDA.
Speaking to Expatmedia.net, FilSoc President Ericson Reyes praised the CDA’s effort to reach out to the Filipino community groups.
“This is a good move from the CDA because, of course, they want things to be legal and proper. We are excited to hear their good news for the Filipino community,” Reyes told Expatmedia.net.
Since 2018, more than 100 Filipino community organisations without CDA accreditation were advised by the Philippine Consulate General-Dubai to "cease and desist their events and activities".
Under the UAE law, it is illegal for any community group to hold paid events and activities without the approval of the CDA. So far, the Filipino Social Club is the only Filipino group accredited by the CDA.
The CDA was established in 2008 by a decree of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to “regulate and license all social service providers in Dubai".
Organisations registered with the CDA need to have a physical office and pay a license fee, among other requirements. PIA/Expat Media
