But Indo-Chinese action-comedy film makes a killing in China

  INDIA - The Indo-Chinese film "Kung Fu Yoga" starring Jackie Chan and Sonu Sood failed to make a killing in India but its ticket sales in China made up for it. The film earned less than Rs4 crore in India on its opening day last January 26, according to Forbes. A crore is a unit in Indian numerical system which is equivalent to 10 million. This, even if Chan visited India recently to promote the movie. The film's 46 percent rating from the review rating site Rotten Tomatoes and negative reviews could have also contributed to the dismal performance of "Kung Fu Yoga" in the Indian theater circuit. Worldwide though, Box Office Mojo reported that the film earned US$180 million (Rs1,200 crore), of which US$179 million came from China.
