Woman shocked to learn she married Dubai impostor

An impostor who moved to Dubai and had a family here continued to live his life while even his own family did not know his real identity, the court heard. The incident was discovered after the court summoned the 32-year-old man for a divorce proceeding. When another man appeared before the court, authorities were alerted about the identity theft. It turned out that the impostor had forged his brother’s friend’s documents, which he used to live in the UAE. While assuming another person’s identity, he got married and had children. During the six-year marriage, he kept his real identity a secret from his wife, their children and even his wife’s relatives. He later filed for divorce. In her testimony, the woman said that she did not suspect anything was wrong, but did notice that her husband’s family called him by another name. Police investigation revealed that after the divorce filing, the impostor deserted his family and fled the UAE. In court, judges reinstated the man’s original identity. The family name of the children was also changed to reflect their father’s real surname. ICA/Expat Media
