Al Ain, parts of UAE experience freezing weather

  DUBAI - The National Centre of Meteorology forecast cooler temperatures to continue in the UAE as remote areas of Al Ain and other emirates experienced freezing weather earlier in the week. On Saturday and Sunday, freezing temperatures of -5° Celsius was recorded in the northern areas of Al Ain, with frozen droplets of water forming icicles on plants and other shrubs. UAE Storm Centre took footage of the ice build-up on shrubs in Raknah, Al Ain. Temperatures in the area plunged to -5° Celsius on Monday morning (January 11), causing icicles to form on parked cars, trees and plants. On Monday, the UAE weather bureau forecast temperatures to dip to 2° Celsius in internal areas and 5° Celsius in mountainous areas. Across the UAE, the average temperature will be 24° Celsius.

Light to moderate Northwesterly winds, freshening at times, with speed 15 - 25 Km/hr, reaching 35 Km/hr. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Wednesday, January 13

Fair to partly cloudy in general. Cold by night over the internal and mountain areas. Humid by night and Thursday morning with a chance of fog and mist formation over some internal areas, especially Eastern areas. Light to moderate Northwesterly winds, with speed 15 - 25 Km/hr, reaching 30 Km/hr. The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Thursday, January 14

Fair to partly cloudy in general. Cold by night over the internal and mountain areas. Humid by night and Friday morning, with a chance of fog and mist formation over some internal areas especially Eastward and Northward. Light to moderate Northwesterly winds, with speed 15 - 25 Km/hr, reaching 30 Km/hr. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.

Friday, January 15

Fair to partly cloudy in general. Cold by night over the internal and mountain areas. Humid by night and Saturday morning with a chance of fog and mist formation over some internal areas especially Eastward and Northward. Light to moderate Northwesterly winds, with speed 15 - 25 Km/hr, reaching 30 Km/hr. The sea will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and in Oman Sea.
