Company that asked to revoke Dh40,000 compensation to worker who fell from villa to pay Dh120,000 instead
DUBAI - A construction company that appealed against an Abu Dhabi Court ruling to pay Dh40,000 compensation to its injured worker will now pay Dh120,000 instead.
The worker had fallen while installing windows in a villa. A forensic report confirmed he suffered a permanent disability due to the fall.
The case was taken to court where judges ruled that the company pay him a compensation of Dh40,000.
The company, however, appealed the ruling and demanded that the compensation be revoked. In its appeal, the company said that a compensation of Dh10,700 is enough.
At the Court of Appeal, judges ruled that the worker’s injuries included severe traumatic injury to the head, with permanent disability of up to 40 percent in his arms.
The Court of Appeal, in its ruling, increased the worker’s compensation to Dh120,000 and ordered the company to pay the expenses of the all the court hearings on the case. ICA/Expat Media
