Prince William's and Kate's new baby: all you need to know

  LONDON - Britain's Prince William and wife Kate welcomed a new baby on Monday (April 23). Here's all you need to know:

When and where was the baby born?

April 23, 2018, on St. George's Day (England's national day) at St. Mary's Hospital in London.

What is the baby's gender?

It's a boy.

Does it have a name?

The baby's name is Prince Louis Arthur Charles. He will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.

Is the baby William and Kate's third child?

Yes, after Princess Charlotte, 2, and older brother Prince George, 4.

Where does the new baby fit in Queen Elizabeth's list of great grandchildren?

He is the  sixth great-grandchild for 92-year-old Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip.

Will the baby hold the title of prince?

Yes. He will hold the title of prince after the Queen changed the rules in 2012 to ensure that all of William's children would be entitled to the title.

Will he overtake Princess Charlotte to the throne?

No. He will not overtake Charlotte in the line of succession due to new laws agreed across the 16 Commonwealth realms where Queen Elizabeth is the head of state, including Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
