Dh1,000 fine for littering UAE streets with facemasks, gloves

ABU DHABI – Anyone caught throwing away used facemasks and gloves in public will be fined Dh1,000, according to the Abu Dhabi Police on Thursday (April 9). Police said that motorists will also be given six black points on their traffic file for littering. UAE authorities have made it mandatory for the public to use facemasks and gloves when they go out to help curb the spread of Covid-19. Used masks and gloves could potentially spread the coronavirus or Covid-19, so health authorities have been asking the public to discard them safely. Used facemasks and gloves should be put in a plastic bag before they are thrown in the trash. Users should also wash their hands after handling a used mask.
