Man racks up Dh15,000 fines during test drive

An Abu Dhabi resident has filed a lawsuit against a man who took his car for a test drive but racked up a total of Dh15,170 in traffic fines. The man said that the prospect buyer allegedly committed the traffic violations within three days when he used the car before buying it. The case was heard at Abu Dhabi Family and Civil Administrative Cases Court where the man submitted photos of the traffic violations incurred. However, the judge ruled that there was not enough evidence to prove that the vehicle owner initially paid the traffic fines that he wanted the man to repay. The court dismissed the case, and reiterated the UAE law that the owner of the vehicle is required to pay all traffic fines under the vehicle traffic file until ownership is transferred.
