Abu Dhabi: E-scooter riders not allowed on main roads and highways

Authorities in Abu Dhabi warn e-scooter riders not to drive on main roads, highways, pedestrian paths, and sidewalks unless they are permitted by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC). This follows the campaign spearheaded by the road authorities encouraging citizens to safely ride bicycles and e-scooters. Authorities highlight the importance of wearing safety gear such as helmets and reflective jackets. Riders are also advised to follow safety instructions, signs, and traffic signals. They can only park in designated spots and are instructed to avoid parking on traffic signposts and light poles. Bicycles and e-scooters should also be equipped with a white headlight and a red night light or a red reflector. The ITC is set to publish a manual containing detailed measures, technical conditions, and requirements for bicycles and e-scooter users. BKM/ Expat Media
