DIY cancer test kit to launch in UAE

A home DNA testing kit is set to be released in the UAE that could help increase early detection rates for one of the most deadly but treatable cancers. A home stool test has been developed by scientists to detect early signs of colorectal cancer. The test uses similar technology to the Covid-19 PCR test. The ColoAlert test from Mainz Biomed has a sensitivity and specificity rate comparable to a colonoscopy performed in a hospital. According to the company, ColoAlert has a sensitivity rate of 85 percent and a specificity rate of 92 percent, according to a clinical test conducted in Germany. The World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer said that colorectal cancer was the second most frequent kind in 2020, accounting for 10.6 percent of all cases in the UAE.
