UAE suspends entry for Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania starting December 25

  DUBAI – Starting on Saturday (December 25), travelers from Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania will be temporarily banned from entering the UAE, authorities have announced. According to the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the entry ban takes effect beginning at 7:30am. The authorities said that the entry ban applies to all passengers coming from these countries on national and international flights, and also includes transit passengers. Emiratis, their first degree relatives, diplomats and diplomatic missions, official delegates and Golden Visa holders returning to the UAE from these countries are exempted. Exempted passengers must show a negative Covid-19 test taken within 48 hours prior to the flight and a rapid PCR test at the airport within six hours of their flight. They must also have another PCR test on arrival at the UAE airport. Exempted passengers must also undergo a 10-day quarantine and take a PCR test on the ninth day of their entry to the UAE. Flights from the UAE to Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Tanzania will continue, but UAE citizens are banned from traveling to these countries, except for emergency cases, scholarships and official trips.
