UAE stops visa stamps on passports, starts unified services for Emirates ID and residence visa renewal

DUBAI – UAE residency visas are no longer being stamped on passports as the country continues with a recently imposed unified procedure for the issuance or renewal of Emirates ID or residency visas. Only Dubai will continue to have separate Emirates ID issuance or renewal services, according to the Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. Unified Emirates ID and residency visa services were put in place beginning on May 16. Officials, however, clarified that separate residence visa services will be available only to those who currently have a separate Emirates ID request in process. As of April 11, 2022, the UAE suspended the issuance of residence visa stamps on expats’ passports. Their Emirates ID will serve as proof of their residence permit instead. The new generation Emirates ID cards for expatriates includes all the details mentioned previously on their residence visa stamp. ICA/Expat Media
