Sheikh Sultan donates Sharjah housing share to other emirates

Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah announced the decision to donate Sharjah’s share in Zayed Housing Programme to other emirates on Monday (May 30). The decision was made after noting that the Sharjah Housing Programme that began in 2012 was sufficient enough for the needs of the emirate, building over 10,000 houses worth Dh8 billion since its launch. The donation will benefit the families in the Northern Emirates, namely Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah, quoting the Sharjah Ruler’s observation that they need it more than Sharjah does. The announcement of Sheikh Dr Sultan was broadcasted via the Direct Line program broadcast live on Sharjah Radio and TV, popular platforms where the Sharjah Ruler happens to be a regular listener as well. Suhail Al Mazrouie, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure expressed gratitude for the Sharjah Ruler’s gesture, stating that it was “reflective of His Highness' constant concern about the welfare of Emirati citizens across all emirates.” Sharjah Housing Programme was able to provide Dh3.5 billion worth of loans, Dh7.5 billion worth of grants, 5,550 houses in Sharjah City and Al Hamriya, 2,885 houses in the Eastern Region, and 1,173 houses in the Central Region.
