How do the greenery survive in the UAE’s dry weather and in that steep plateau? Through an automated irrigation system.
The smart irrigation system uses a sub-surface mat that delivers water directly to the root system, while the plateau’s slopes allow rapid water flow that eliminates the need for pumped irrigation.
Water collection and recycling systems are also used to reduce water wastage by approximately 25 percent.
With its design and technology innovations, the Museum of the Future has already made it to the list of 14 most beautiful museums in the world.
The list, published by National Geographic, put Dubai’s Museum of the Future as the fifth most beautiful museum in the world. China’s Shanghai Museum of Astronomy, which mimics stars and planets, topped the list.
Spanning an area of 30,000 square metres, the seven-storey pillarless structure in Dubai stands at 77 metres high.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, called the Museum of the Future the “most beautiful building on earth”. ICA/Expat Media
