Bangladesh hangs Nizami for genocide in 1971 war as hundreds take to streets to celebrate

DHAKA – A man who orchestrated the massacre of Bangladesh’s top intellectuals in the 1971 war was hanged on Wednesday. Motiur Rahman Nizami, the head of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, was hanged at Dhaka Central jail for genocide and rape committed during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. Thousands of policemen and border guards were deployed in Dhaka ahead of the execution of the 73-year-old Nizami. Hundreds of people flooded Dhaka’s streets to celebrate the execution, saying justice has finally been served. Three million people were killed and thousands of women raped during the 1971 war involving Jamaat-e-Islami and other factions. The party denies that its leaders committed any atrocities. Perth teen has IQ higher than genius scientist Stephen Hawking, want to find cancer cure

PERTH - A teenager from Perth has been declared as Australia's smartest kid after attaining a higher IQ than genius scientist Stephen Hawking, according to intelligence society Mensa. Sharvin Jeyendran, 14, from Sacred Heart College, scored an intelligent quotient of 168 or eight points higher than the renowned physicist. The Australian-based network 9News reported on Friday that the teenager was naturally smart at a young age, and even started walking and holding normal conversations at nine months. Jeyendran’s mother, Deva, said that at a young age he started talking "like how a two- or three-year-olds could speak with proper sentences and grammar". In a separate interview with 9News, Jeyendran said he wanted to be biological scientist and try to find a cure for cancer. "I also want to be a marine biologist to explore the seas and also have my own charity for all the poor people in the world," he added. Despite his recent recognition, Jeyendran enjoys playing basketball and kicking a soccer ball in his backyard like a typical teenager would do. Jeyendran is also a talented pianist. His test score has ranked him in the top two percent of intelligent people in the world.
