DUBAI – A total of 97,314 Filipinos in the UAE participated in the overseas vote for the Philippine elections, according to the Philippine Embassy in a statement sent to Expatmedia.net on Saturday (May 14). The Philippine Embassy described it as a “record turnout”. Philippine Ambassador Hjayceelyn Quintana arrived in Manila on Friday to turn over the Certificates of Canvas to the Commission on Elections and the Philippine Senate to report the results of voting in the UAE. “The UAE recorded 97,314 voters for the Philippine National Elections 2022, a significant 56 percent increase from 62,145 voters in 2016,” Ambassador Quintana said. She praised Filipinos in the UAE for consistently garnering the highest overseas voting turnout on a per-country basis since 2016 and for their cooperation which ensured the “smooth, organized, and peaceful conduct of voting”.
