The training course comprises lessons on technical specifications and standards of scooters, obligations of users, and the locations where the scooters are allowed.

The new laws also state that operating an electric scooter or any other category specified by RTA without a driving permit is a traffic offense punishable by law with a Dh200 fine.
This law does not apply to individuals with valid driver's licenses, international driver's licenses, or motorcycle licenses.
The implementation of these regulations is in line with a resolution by the Dubai Executive Council, approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
It supports efforts to make Dubai a bicycle-friendly city and encourages residents and visitors to adopt different modes of transportation. It also concluded the successful trial operation of e-scooters in October 2020.
The official operation of e-scooters began on April 13 in ten districts of Dubai.
Initially, the scooters were allowed only in approved cycling lanes in Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai Internet City, Al Rigga, 2nd December Street, Palm Jumeirah, City Walk, Safe roads at Al Qusais, Al Mankhool, and Al Karama.
The locations and lanes are selected based on specified criteria such as high population density, special development zones, areas served by metro stations and mass transport methods, the availability of integrated infrastructure, and high-traffic safety zones. BKM/ Expat Media
