French man missing for nine days safely found in a Dubai hospital

The 25-year-old French citizen, Mohamed-Joseph Chauvin, who went missing for nine days has been found safe in a hospital in Dubai. The man reportedly last spoke to his family in the early hours of April 26. Chauvin was last seen in the transit area of Dubai International Airport, on his way back to Doha, where he had been residing with his family since December. His mother, Fabienne, said that a doctor from Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital recognized her son after seeing a public plea for assistance on social media. Chauvin has been dealing with mental health concerns and was recently diagnosed with psychotic episodes. Fabienne received a call on Thursday informing her that her son was safe and well after being unable to reach him for nine days. The doctor contacted a woman who had shared a post about Chauvin's absence on social media, and the woman, in turn, contacted Chauvin's mother. Fabienne stated that she was able to speak briefly on the phone with Mehdi on Thursday, who confirmed that he was doing well. Due to his mental state when he was brought to the hospital, he was unable to call his family to let them know where he was.
