Five Ramadan cannon locations in Dubai revealed

Ramadan tradition of cannon firing will be witnessed again

Dubai Police announced the locations of the cannons that will be fired to signal the new crescent sighting and the start of Ramadan 2022. The cannons are stationed in five key locations in the emirate:
  • Atlantis the Palm
  • Burj Khalifa
  • Al Seef
  • Al Waheeda at Century Mall Dubai
  • Hatta in front of Emirates Cooperative Society, and Hatta Hill Park
The cannon firing has been a Ramadan tradition since the early 1960s. A single shot is fired at the time of Iftar daily through the holy month while two shots are fired to mark the start of Ramadan and the commencement of Eid. Dubai Police will also dispatch a roaming cannon in other 11 areas for the first time, including:
  • Al Satwa near the Big Mosque
  • Al Qouz near Al Anbiya’a Mosque
  • Al Lisaili near Al Nahda National School
  • Lahbab near Lahbab Community Park 1
  • Al Aweer near Sheikh Hamdan Mosque
  • Al Khawaneej near Ahmed Al Habbai Mosque
  • Muhaisnah near Abdul Rahim Mohammed Kti Mosque.
The roaming cannon is scheduled to remain for three days in the above areas and for two days in the following areas:
  • Al Warqa near the Big Mosque
  • Jebel Ali near Ibn Battuta Mall
  • Ain Dubai
  • Nad Al Sheba near Nad Al Sheba Park
  • Al Barsha near Al-Buhaira Park
