Dubai Safari Park to close for summer break

Dubai Safari Park will close for the summer break after a “lovely season”, according to the Dubai Municipality on Thursday (June 2). “We look forward to welcoming you again in September,” the Dubai Municipality tweeted. The park also closed during the same period last year to “protect animals from any health risks due to the high summer temperatures”. The Dubai Safari Park is considered the biggest wildlife park of its kind in the Middle East, and sits on a sprawling area of 119 hectares in Al Warqa 5 along Al Aweer Road. Built at a cost of Dh1 billion, the Dubai Safari Park is home to 3,000 animals, including some rare species such as the Arabian Oryx and Komodo Dragon. The 119-hectare park has four sections: Asian, African and Arabian village and an open Safari Village where visitors can get a guided safari drive. ICA/Expat Media
