Update: Burj Khalifa shows Kobe Bryant tribute

DUBAI – The world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, lit up in tribute of NBA legend Kobe Bryant on Sunday (February 2). The iconic building displayed a photo of a smiling Bryant with her daughter, Gianna on its facadehttp://www.expatmedia.net/kobe-bryants-helicopter-flew-fog/2020/01/">died in a helicopter crash last week. A few in the crowd could be heard chanting, "Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!" as the Burj Khalifa lit up in purple and gold, colours of the Lakers team where Bryant played his entire professional career. Expatmedia.net also spotted a fan in the crowd wearing a jacket with Kobe's number 24.

Watch the full live coverage here (or skip to 23:45 minutes into the video for the LED tribute).

As Expatmedia.net earlier reported, the tribute was arranged by Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DCMM) Executive Chairman Ahmed Bin Sulayem. Sulayem has reportedly been a longtime fan and friend of the late NBA champion. In 2013, Sulayem hosted Bryant in the UAE where he gave the late NBA legend a DMCC Freezone license.
