Abu Dhabi bans scooters with seats, says ITC

Scooters with seats are now banned in Abu Dhabi, according to the emirate’s transport authority. In a recent post, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) showed three types of seated scooters that are prohibited in the capital. Only bicycles and e-scooters are allowed. Authorities in Abu Dhabi recently conducted a mass awareness campaign on the new rule while giving cyclists and e-scooter riders in the capital free helmets. According to the ITC, cyclists and e-scooter riders must use their vehicles on designated lanes, or on side roads in places where there are no cycling paths. "And they must stay on the far right-hand side of the road ... and pavements dedicated to the use of bicycles,” according to ITC. Cyclists must obey road rules, wear proper safety gear like protective helmet and reflective clothing, and observe a speed limit of 20km per hour. "And they must stay on the far right-hand side of the road ... and pavements dedicated to the use of bicycles. Only one rider is allowed to ride a bicycle, scooter or e-bike on designated lanes.
